How Arvind Kejriwal can save himself

Narendra Modi and Amit Shah have a clear vision. Eliminate all opposition. Decimate them or absorb them. My previous post [link below] showed a few people decimated by them. Today let’s look at the others: those who are saved by joining the Bharatiya Janata Party [BJP].

1. Himanta Biswa Sarma

This guy was in Congress and faced serious charges related to the multi-crore Saradha chit fund scam. He also faced corruption charges related to drinking water supply in Guwahati. His house was raided by the Central Bureau of Investigation [CBI]. Then he switched over to BJP and all his crimes just vanished. It’s as simple as taking a dip in the Ganga and all your sins are forgiven. Today he is the chief minister of Assam. Nothing is heard of all the charges that were levelled against him.

2. Amarinder Singh

This former Captain in the Indian Army was a Congressman until Modi’s Enforcement Directorate [ED] started raiding him, his son and his son-in-law. He put an end to all those raids simply by joining the BJP.

3. Pema Khandu

This is another Congressman who washed all his sins in the Ganga of BJP. Many corruption cases that existed against him just vaporised when he joined the BJP in 2016. Today he is the chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh.

4. Suvendu Adhikari

Yet another Congressman who shifted allegiance to the Trinamul Congress and then saved himself from jail by joining the BJP. All the people who lost their money in the Ponzi scheme that he was part of were made fools by Modi’s party which exonerated Adhikari all too easily when he agreed to join the BJP.

5. Ashok Chavan

Another Congressman who was the chief minister of Maharashtra until the Adarsh Housing Society Scam hit him hard. The CBI was after him for years until he joined the BJP. All his sins melted away as naturally as a dewdrop vanishing on the touch of the morning sun.

6. Digambar Kamat

When the CBI started questioning him on certain irregularities related to water supply in his state of Goa, he just joined the BJP and all investigations ended altogether.

7. Ajit Pawar

This man and his wife were accused of corruption related to cooperative banks of Maharashtra. He then abandoned his party, NCP, and joined the BJP. All charges of corruption vanished.

8. Chhagan Bhujbal

He was arrested in connection with the construction of Maharashtra Sadan in Delhi. He too found the easiest solution by joining the BJP. Now he is a free man.

9. Narayan Rane

He abandoned the Shiva Sena and joined the Congress. And then charges of corruption came up. He joined the BJP and resolved all problems.

10. Praful Patel

Another guy who abandoned his party NCP and flocked to the BJP along with Ajit Pawar just to save himself from corruption charges.

11. Bhavana Gawali

Yet another of the Shiva Sainiks who jumped the boat to save herself from prison. And the redeemer was again the BJP.

Conclusion

During the ten years of Narendra Modi’s rule, 95% of cases filed by the Enforcement Directorate were against opposition leaders. During Manmohan Singh’s period, there were only 26 such cases and only half of them were against politicians from opposition parties. Modi’s first 8 years (up to 2022) witnessed 121 raids on politicians out of which 115 were against people from opposition parties. Many of these opposition people saved themselves by joining Modi’s party. Arvind Kejriwal can save himself too. Let all politicians save themselves at least. The country has become irredeemable anyway.

  1. There is no disputing that corruption has been and is a major issue, at lower levels and higher levels. But the way our political establishment -- comprising all parties in different states -- has gone about addressing it is totally disappointing, to the say the least.
Never has there been a ray of hope.
Every single party is guilty of acquiescing corruption, in one way or the other.
Parties point fingers at one another, akin to pot calling the kettle black.
Not a single party has acted decisively -- in a manner that will set an example -- against its members who have been charged with or convicted of corruption.
One can go on and on regarding this. But suffice to say that the way things are going in different parts of the country is extremely depressing.

    1. The very notion of morality, let alone dharma, has been brought down into a quagmire of filrh. That's the biggest catastrophe.

  2. Bingo! The list is endless, and there are more migrants from other parties than the original cadre for sure. Their way of centralising corruption..

Florentino’s Many Loves

Florentino Ariza has had 622 serious relationships (combo pack with sex) apart from numerous fleeting liaisons before he is able to embrace the only woman whom he loved with all his heart and soul. And that embrace happens “after a long and troubled love affair” that lasted 51 years, 9 months, and 4 days. Florentino is in his late 70s when he is able to behold, and hold as well, the very body of his beloved Fermina, who is just a few years younger than him. She now stands before him with her wrinkled shoulders, sagged breasts, and flabby skin that is as pale and cold as a frog’s. It is the culmination of a long, very long, wait as far as Florentino is concerned, the end of his passionate quest for his holy grail. “I’ve remained a virgin for you,” he says. All those 622 and more women whose details filled the 25 diaries that he kept writing with meticulous devotion have now vanished into thin air. They mean nothing now that he has reached where he longed to reach all his life. The

The Adventures of Toto as a comic strip

'The Adventures of Toto' is an amusing story by Ruskin Bond. It is prescribed as a lesson in CBSE's English course for class 9. Maggie asked her students to do a project on some of the lessons and Femi George's work is what I would like to present here. Femi converted the story into a beautiful comic strip. Her work will speak for itself and let me present it below.  Femi George Student of Carmel Public School, Vazhakulam, Kerala Similar post: The Little Girl

Unromantic Men

Romance is a tenderness of the heart. That is disappearing even from the movies. Tenderness of heart is not a virtue anymore; it is a weakness. Who is an ideal man in today’s world? Shakespeare’s Romeo and Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s Devdas would be considered as fools in today’s world in which the wealthiest individuals appear on elite lists, ‘strong’ leaders are hailed as nationalist heroes, and success is equated with anything other than traditional virtues. The protagonist of Colleen McCullough’s 1977 novel, The Thorn Birds [which sold more than 33 million copies], is torn between his idealism and his natural weaknesses as a human being. Ralph de Bricassart is a young Catholic priest who is sent on a kind of punishment-appointment to a remote rural area of Australia where the Cleary family arrives from New Zealand in 1921 to take care of the enormous estate of Mary Carson who is Paddy Cleary’s own sister. Meggy Cleary is the only daughter of Paddy and Fiona who have eight so

Octlantis

I was reading an essay on octopuses when friend John walked in. When he is bored of his usual activities – babysitting and gardening – he would come over. Politics was the favourite concern of our conversations. We discussed politics so earnestly that any observer might think that we were running the world through the politicians quite like the gods running it through their devotees. “Octopuses are quite queer creatures,” I said. The essay I was reading had got all my attention. Moreover, I was getting bored of politics which is irredeemable anyway. “They have too many brains and a lot of hearts.” “That’s queer indeed,” John agreed. “Each arm has a mind of its own. Two-thirds of an octopus’s neurons are found in their arms. The arms can taste, touch, feel and act on their own without any input from the brain.” “They are quite like our politicians,” John observed. Everything is linked to politics in John’s mind. I was impressed with his analogy, however. “Perhaps, you’re r

Yesterday

With students of Carmel Margaret, are you grieving / Over Goldengrove unleaving…? It was one of my first days in the eleventh class of Carmel Public School in Kerala, the last school of my teaching career. One girl, whose name was not Margaret, was in the class looking extremely melancholy. I had noticed her for a few days. I didn’t know how to put the matter over to her. I had already told the students that a smiling face was a rule in the English class. Since Margaret didn’t comply, I chose to drag Hopkins in. I replaced the name of Margaret with the girl’s actual name, however, when I quoted the lines. Margaret is a little girl in the Hopkins poem. Looking at autumn’s falling leaves, Margaret is saddened by the fact of life’s inevitable degeneration. The leaves have to turn yellow and eventually fall. And decay. The poet tells her that she has no choice but accept certain inevitabilities of life. Sorrow is our legacy, Margaret , I said to Margaret’s alter ego in my class. Let
