Karnataka election

I didn’t celebrate the victory of Congress in the Karnataka assembly elections. I celebrated the BJP’s defeat.

Congress lost its charm long ago. It is now a party without a vision, without a leader, and without a worthwhile purpose. People might have voted for it because they don’t have any other choice. Until his Bharat Jodo Yatra, Rahul Gandhi was a toddler in politics. The Yatra did bring a lot of sense and maturity to his personality. He may emerge as a great leader one day. He does have certain qualities which most Indian politicians don’t have. He has genuine concern for people. He is capable of reaching out to people unlike most political leaders who surround themselves with their chelas and security personnel. And he is willing to learn. He has much more to learn, however.

Congress had become an utterly corrupt party and that is why it was thrown out by India in the last many elections all over the country. Will the new Congress government in Karnataka provide a clean governance? I doubt.

The BJP government in Karnataka, which the people have thrown out now, was even more corrupt than any Congress government in the state. That’s something we can repeat about the BJP government in any state as well as the Centre. BJP’s corruption is hydra-headed and endlessly protean. You will never know in which form it will appear next. It is not only about financial corruption. The BJP is most imaginative when it comes to corruptibility. It can corrupt anything, even our gods.

Bajrang Bali refused to be corrupted in Karnataka this time, however. I celebrated that. I hope other states will learn something from Karnataka.

My own state, Kerala, will go to the polls only in 2026. So I have time to decide who to vote for. If the elections are held in Kerala just now, I will abstain from voting. I don’t trust the left or the right or the centre. In other words, it won’t matter a bit who rules since every party is the same in practice: every party is a public looter and nothing more.

The BJP is different, however. It not only loots money but also people’s faith and food and dress and language and culture and their very integrity. That’s why its defeat in Karnataka made me dance. The defeat of a mammoth evil is almost as good as the victory of the virtuous. At least, it raises our hopes.

While I agree much with your sentiments here, I disagree about abstention from voting. The privilege of voting is one to embrace and, yes, that sometimes means going for the least obnoxious choice...but that's the point. To not vote gives the default to the worst. It fascinates me how similar or two governments are, albeit with different agendas. Our 'opposition' party offers little alternative in truth... Hey Jo... YAM xx

    1. This is what I used to believe, Yam - that not voting is giving the mandate to the worst. But now it's Tweedledum and Tweedledee that we have. No question of the better.

  2. BJP tagged as corrupt without any major proof. Congress has been saying 40% commission but there is no credible proof to prove. People voted for freebies like money, which is not viable. How can a government give Rs 2000 each month for all people? The intention of Congress is to tag people as poor since it's the hallmark of people like Soros.

  3. If you don't want BJP to win, you have to vote for somebody else. Maybe the others are no better but at least they won't rob your soul.

  4. Almost every party has become corrupted. That's the problem sometimes to vote. Our people are also patient when it comes to political corruption in the name of caste. Regional parties too worst. Our Telugu regional supremos like Chandrababu Naidu plundered Billions of dollars and established business empire in many countries. He had only 2 acres of land when he entered the politics.

  5. PEOPLE ARE MISSING THE BIG NEWS ! CHAIWALA + GOBARNATH + AMIT SHAH + ASSAMESE CLOWN,ALL CAME TO CANVASS,IN KARNATAKA !

WHERE THESE CLOWNS WENT - THE BJP LOST !

    CHAIWALA VOTE SHARE,IS FLAT

SO ALL THE BILLIONS SPENT ON INFRA AND DIRECT CASH TRANSFER - GOT NOTHING FOR CHAIWALA

EVEN THE NEW VOTERS WERE NOT CONNED BY THE CHAIWALA ANTICS !

    Y ?

THEY HAVE SEEN THROUGH CHAI TRICKS !

LIMGAYATS HAVE RUINED CHAIWALA,AND SO,NOW CONG SHOULD SUPPORT LINGAYAT,AS A SEPARATE RELIGION,AND NOT BEING HINDOOS

    https://indianexpress.com/article/research/lingayat-karnataka-hinduism-basava-veerashaivism-4982608/

WHAT DOES THE SAME VOTER PERCENT OF CHAIWALA PROVE ?

IT PROVES THAT HIS HARD CORE VOTER IS INTACT ! INSPITE OF CORRUPTION !

THAT HARD CORE VOTER,WILL STAY WITH CHAIWALA,IN 2024

CONGI SHOULD NOT EVEN TRY TO TAP THEM - IT IS A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY !

SPEND MONEY ON THE DEV SCHEMES OF NON CHAIWALA CORE VOTERS !

THE DALIT AND MUSLIM VOTES,ARE ALSO KEY ! CONGI HAS NOW BECOME THE ALT TO THE BJP,AND CONG HAS TO SPREAD THIS JACKPOT,FOR THE NEXT 12 MONTHS,TO THE NEW ENTRANTS, IN THE VOTER LIST !

BE THE CONTRAST TO THE MAD RABID ANTI MUSLIM BANTER,OF CHAIWALA - AND THAT WILL BRING IN THE YOUTH ! THE MIDDLE AGED, WILL ALSO LIKE IT - AS THE HINDOO FEAR PSYCHOSIS CARD ,HAS PLAYED OUT,AND IS STALE !

THEN WE COME TO JDS !

THANKS TO CHAIWALA COW LYNCHING AND CORRUPTION AND DEFLECTION STRATEGY,THE JDS VOTERS HAVE FELT THE NEED TO DECISIVELY KICK OUT THE CHAIWALA AS OPPOSED TO FORMING POST POLL ALLIANCES

IF CONGI PERFORMS, MORE OF THE JDS VOTERS WILL SWITCH IN 2024

LINGAYAT + JDS + DALITS + MUSLIMS + NEW VOTERS = CONGI CLEAN SWEEP IN 2024

NOW CONG HAS TO IMPROVE EFFICIENCIES,CUT COSTS,RE-ENGINEER PROGRAMS TO BENEFIT,THE NON -CHAIWALA CORE VOTERS

    AND

1 RAID EVERY DAY ! ANTI CORRUPTION ! QUICK ENQUIRY ! FLOOD THE WEB WITH CORRUPTION NEWS ! SO THAT IT IS 1 VISIBLE CHANG, PEOPLE CAN SEE ! EVERY 5 MINUTES ON TV, THERE SHOULD BE CORRUPTION NEWS OF CHAIWALA.

THEN WITH THE COSTS SAVED,DISBURSE SUBSIDIES AND GRANTS INNOVATIVELY, TO THE TARGET NON -CHAIWALA,CORE VOTERS !

JDS IS WARE HOUSING VOTES FOR CONGI !

THIS VOTE SHARE + CONG PERFORMANCE,TILL 2O24 WILL FORCE JDS INTO A PRE POLL CONGI 2024 ALLIANCE ! dindooohindoo

THAT FORMULA WILL WORK FOR THE WHOLE OF SOUTH INDIA, AND ALSO,MAHARASHTRA !

  6. THE ONLY STATE IN DRAVIDISTAN WHICH HAD CHOSEN CHAIWALA HAS KICKED HIM OUT !

    VOTER PERCENTAGE IS 73 PERCENT

CLEAR SIGN THAT PEOPLE WERE FED UP,WITH CORRUPTION - ALL THAT MATTERS, IN SOUTH STATES !

RURAL AREAS VOTER PERCENTAGE, WAS HIGHER THAN URBAN - WHICH MEANS THAT,CHAIWALA DIRECT FUNDS TRANSFER ETC. HAVE ALL FAILED !

DALITS HAVE VOTED EN BLOCK,FOR CONGRESS ! DATA WILL ALSO PROVE THAT MUSLIMS TILTED THE SCALE IN SEVERAL SEATS. THE VOTING PERCENTAGE OF DALITS& MUSLIMS WILL ALSO SHOW A SHARP RISE

NOW IF CONGRESS DOES NOT DELIVER VALUE TILL 2024, TO BE A MODEL FOR THE SOUTH (AT THE MINIMUM), THEN THEY HAVE ONLY THEMSELVES, TO BLAME.

ALL THEY HAVE TO DO,IS TO STOP CORRUPTION, MAKE THE STATE EFFICIENT, PROVIDE QUICK TANGIBLE GAINS TO DALITS AND MUSLIMS, ENSURE NO RIOTS & BAN VANARS OF BAJRANG DAL..........SAMIR SARDANA

IT IS A DEFEAT, FOR CHAIWALA !

CHAIWALA PUT ALL HIS ENERGY INTO KARNATAKA !

KARNATAKA IS THE MODEL TO DEFEAT CHAIWALA, IN SOUTH INDIA AND MAHARASHTRA !

KARNATAKA IS PROOF THAT MONEY AND PANWARI BANIA MEDIA OF ZEE/ABP AND OR-NOOB GOO-SWAMI CANNOT BUY VOTES IN SOUTH INDIA - AS NO ONE LISTENS, TO THESE GARBAGE CANS CLUTTERING !

KARNATAKA IS ALSO PROOF THAT SAYING THAT A MONKEY HANOOMAN, WAS BORN IN KARNATAKA OR MAHARASHTRA,DEPENDING ON WHERE THE POLLS ARE - WILL NOT CON,THE SOUTH INDIANS !

CHAIWALA SET FIRE TO THE TAIL OF HANOOMAN THE MONKEY,AND THEN REALISED,THAT THE MONKEY COULD NOT FLY ! THUS THE MONKEY BURNT THE CHAIWALA !

WHERE INDIANS HAVE MONEY,AND THERE IS NO POVERTY (LIKE IN SOUTH INDIA), PEOPLE WANT FACILITIES,EFFICIENCY AND NO CORRUPTION !

WHERE INDIANS ARE POOR, THEY WANT GAU MUTRAM, GOBAR, GOBARNATH, RAMA & FREEBIES (WHICH IS NORTH INDIA -EXCL PUNJAB)

CHAIWALA IS ON WAY TO DOOM ! dindooohindoo

WHICH IS Y CHAIWALA IS MAKING PLANS TO ATTACK AJK - AND PAKISTAN MUST NOT ALLOW THAT!

  7. A very balanced and nuanced assessment, Tomi. It's good for democracy and for our country that the Congress is finally getting its acts together. No party should be allowed to have a monopoly. There has to checks and balances. In a way, the vastness and the mind-boggling diversity of our country is a huge asset. Five more states are going to polls this year, and then then big polls next year!

The Little Girl

The Little Girl is a short story by Katherine Mansfield given in the class 9 English course of NCERT. Maggie gave an assignment to her students based on the story and one of her students, Athena Baby Sabu, presented a brilliant job. She converted the story into a delightful comic strip. Mansfield tells the story of Kezia who is the eponymous little girl. Kezia is scared of her father who wields a lot of control on the entire family. She is punished severely for an unwitting mistake which makes her even more scared of her father. Her grandmother is fond of her and is her emotional succour. The grandmother is away from home one day with Kezia's mother who is hospitalised. Kezia gets her usual nightmare and is terrified. There is no one at home to console her except her father from whom she does not expect any consolation. But the father rises to the occasion and lets the little girl sleep beside him that night. She rests her head on her father's chest and can feel his heart...

Ayodhya: Kingdom of Sorrows

T he Sarayu carried more tears than water. Ayodhya was a sad kingdom. Dasaratha was a good king. He upheld dharma – justice and morality – as best as he could. The citizens were apparently happy. Then, one day, it all changed. One person is enough to change the destiny of a whole kingdom. Who was that one person? Some say it was Kaikeyi, one of the three official wives of Dasaratha. Some others say it was Manthara, Kaikeyi’s chief maid. Manthara was a hunchback. She was the caretaker of Kaikeyi right from the latter’s childhood; foster mother, so to say, because Kaikeyi had no mother. The absence of maternal influence can distort a girl child’s personality. With a foster mother like Manthara, the distortion can be really bad. Manthara was cunning, selfish, and morally ambiguous. A severe physical deformity can make one worse than all that. Manthara was as devious and manipulative as a woman could be in a men’s world. Add to that all the jealousy and ambition that insecure peo...

Liberated

Fiction - parable Vijay was familiar enough with soil and the stones it turns up to realise that he had struck something rare.   It was a tiny stone, a pitch black speck not larger than the tip of his little finger. It turned up from the intestine of the earth while Vijay was digging a pit for the biogas plant. Anand, the scientist from the village, got the stone analysed in his lab and assured, “It is a rare object.   A compound of carbonic acid and magnesium.” Anand and his fellow scientists believed that it must be a fragment of a meteoroid that hit the earth millions of years ago.   “Very rare indeed,” concluded the scientist. Now, it’s plain commonsense that something that’s very rare indeed must be very valuable too. All the more so if it came from the heavens. So Vijay got the village goldsmith to set it on a gold ring.   Vijay wore the ring proudly on his ring finger. Nobody, in the village, however bothered to pay any homage to Vijay’s...

Bharata: The Ascetic King

Bharata is disillusioned yet again. His brother, Rama the ideal man, Maryada Purushottam , is making yet another grotesque demand. Sita Devi has to prove her purity now, years after the Agni Pariksha she arranged for herself long ago in Lanka itself. Now, when she has been living for years far away from Rama with her two sons Luva and Kusha in the paternal care of no less a saint than Valmiki himself! What has happened to Rama? Bharata sits on the bank of the Sarayu with tears welling up in his eyes. Give me an answer, Sarayu, he said. Sarayu accepted Bharata’s tears too. She was used to absorbing tears. How many times has Rama come and sat upon this very same bank and wept too? Life is sorrow, Sarayu muttered to Bharata. Even if you are royal descendants of divinity itself. Rama had brought the children Luva and Kusha to Ayodhya on the day of the Ashvamedha Yagna which he was conducting in order to reaffirm his sovereignty and legitimacy over his kingdom. He didn’t know they w...

Chitrakoot: Antithesis of Ayodhya

Illustration by MS Copilot Designer Chitrakoot is all that Ayodhya is not. It is the land of serenity and spiritual bliss. Here there is no hankering after luxury and worldly delights. Memory and desire don’t intertwine here producing sorrow after sorrow. Situated in a dense forest, Chitrakoot is an abode of simplicity and austerity. Ayodhya’s composite hungers have no place here. Let Ayodhya keep its opulence and splendour, its ambitions and dreams. And its sorrows as well. Chitrakoot is a place for saints like Atri and Anasuya. Atri is one of the Saptarishis and a Manasputra of Brahma. Brahma created the Saptarishis through his mind to help maintain cosmic order and spread wisdom. Anasuya is his wife, one of the most chaste and virtuous women in Hindu mythology. Her virtues were so powerful that she could transmute the great Trimurti of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva into infants when they came to test her chastity. Chitrakoot is the place where asceticism towers above even divinit...
